Woodpecker 10(0)1 - VIII

Professor Yaffle

Woodpeckering my way through 1001 chess puzzles in 2021

Well that's the first cycle down. 277 positions, starting out with 82% in 22 hours 42 minutes ending up at 98% in 1 hour 6 minutes.

It could - and perhaps should - have been better. I dropped four or five points in the last cycle playing the moves in the wrong order as I was rushing.

Still, that's nearly 50 hours of Woodpeckering. Successful as an exercise, but so what? The real question is whether there's been any impact in the real world.

Unpicking the impact of different activities isn't a straightforward exercise. For now here's my Lichess rapid rating graph that covers the period during which I've been Woodpeckering. On 1st January it was 2046. Now it stands at 2200.

So things have been going well. Whether or not any of this can be attributed to The Woodpecker Method, though, is another question.
